Finance Specialist – Revenue Accounting (Refunds & Chargebacks)

Fiji Airways is seeking a highly motivated Finance Specialist – Revenue Accounting (Refunds & Chargebacks) to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate and efficient validation, processing, and reconciliation of refund and chargeback transactions in accordance with company policies and IATA resolutions. This position is vital to safeguarding revenue integrity, minimizing financial exposure, and strengthening customer trust. The role reports to the Manager Revenue Accounting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process approved ticket refunds accurately and within agreed timelines.
  • Monitor and manage refund queues in the refund portals.
  • Investigate chargeback claims received from banks and acquirers.
  • Compile and submit supporting evidence to dispute the chargeback transactions.
  • Track open chargeback cases and follow up on resolution and financial impact.
  • Identify and escalate irregular refund or chargeback patterns.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Commercial, and Customer Service teams to resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation for audit and compliance.
  • Reconcile refund and chargeback transactions with General Ledger entries.
  • Maintain a chargeback master file with updated status, reasons, and recovery actions.
  • Prepare monthly reports highlighting trends, exceptions, and key metrics.
  • Identify cases requiring Agency Debit Memos (ADM) due to agency non-compliance or ticketing errors.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements for refund and chargeback processing.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to enhance efficiency and service quality.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant coursework or internships in finance or accounting are advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of financial transactions, refunds processing principles, and customer service standards.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and tools, including MS Excel and data entry systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with team members and customers.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new systems, tools, and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
