Full-Time Business Intelligence Engineer
Job Description
Vinod Patel Group, a leading retail and manufacturing group of business located in the South Pacific, is looking for a customer focused, analytically and technically skilled Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to join our team. Reporting to the Manager Business Intelligence, this person will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the company’s data warehouse and business intelligence systems. This includes working with data from multiple sources to create a single, unified view of the business, as well as developing reports and dashboards to help stakeholders make better decisions.
This role requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities as well as good business acumen and comfort with technical teams and systems. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual who thrives in dynamic environments, possesses meticulous attention to detail, and has a passion for working with data.
Resposibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain the company’s data warehouse and business intelligence systems.
- Work with data from multiple sources to create a single, unified view of the business.
- Develop reports and dashboards to help stakeholders make better decisions.
- Work with the Manager Business Intelligence to develop and implement a data-driven culture throughout the organization.
- Analyse and visualize large scale transaction data to determine user and customer behaviour, map out processes and identify defects, and output analysis with recommendations.
- Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.
- Support integration of data warehouse and creation of new data cubes with new and existing systems as they come online.
- Develop a team of super-data users to decentralize and upskill data analytical capability throughout the wider organisation.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in a software engineering role
- Strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Proficient in at least one programming language, such as Java, Python, or C++
- Experience with database systems, such as SQL Server or MySQL
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Business intelligence certifications in Power BI or other Business Intelligence tools.
- Recent experience implementing basic software solutions to automate data source, visualization and/or data modelling application.
- Experience data modelling and transformation of data sources using SQL, ADW, RedShift or other Big Data technologies.
- Work experience building end to end solutions.
