Temporary Digital Media Assistant Producer and Storyteller

Job Description

The role – Digital Media Assistant Producer and Storyteller will be a key role in developing, shooting, and editing of engaging, human-interest stories and visual content, for the newly launching The Pacific Way television program across our Blue Pacific region. This role is designed for someone who is curious, has an appetite for creative storytelling in and across Pacific communities, understands how users are best engaging with content in the region and is able to provide multi-platform style pre-production, production and post-production including reporting of content, in line with the vision of The Pacific Way. 

 

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Produce and edit audiovisual and written content within SPC / The Pacific Way branding guidelines for social media, web and television platforms

  • Ensure the scripting process is anchored in impactful and best-practice Pacific storytelling methodology.
  • Develop 15 digital media / broadcast stories for multiplatform channels including TV broadcast, social media, reels and online graphic formats i.e. website etc.
  • Capture all footage and content in high-resolution and ensure quality is in line with broadcast standards.
  • Support interview coordination, relationship management and follow through on engagement.

 

Coordinate with Divisions to support creative and impact storytelling in timely and responsive manner

  • Support the coordination with Divisional teams to ensure content is captured and delivered quickly with necessary approval by Team Leader Pacific Way.
  • Ensure regular stories being published represent inclusivity and diversity of voices from across the Pacific, youth, women, and marginalised communities such as LGBTIQ+ communities.
  • Critically support collective and inclusive teamwork across internal and external teams and manage relationships to support the Team Leader Pacific Way.

 

Reporting and evaluation

  • Ensure management and coordination of all captured audiovisual materials are uploaded within 10 days of travel to Resource Space with appropriate meta data tags and country information.
  • Support data contribution to monthly reports and provide necessary reporting to Divisions where needed and requested.

 

Multiplatform and broadcast engagement and coordination 

  • Support coordination, engagement and relationship development with Pacific broadcast houses on co-shared and co-developed content.
  • Sought and provide all necessary approvals from countries before publishing where needed in coordination with Team Leader Pacific Way.
  • Liaise with the Digital Media Reporter in coordination with Team Leader Pacific Way on stories for The Pacific Way episodes across all necessary platforms in a timely manner i.e. reels, written and visual content, and social media campaign support for broader promotion.
  • Support TV scheduling through SPC broadcast partners and satellite scheduling where required.

Key selection criteria

 

Qualifications

  • Diploma in a relevant field such as Communications, Journalism, Media Relations or equivalent body of knowledge and experience.

 

Technical expertise

  • At least 4-5 years of professional experience in the media, digital storytelling or communications fields, with a strong focus on online/social media communications and/or broadcast.
  • Scripting capability in line with modern and best practice TV and content development.

 

Language skills

  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).

 

Interpersonal skills and cultural awareness

  • Ability to work in a multicultural, inclusive and equitable environment.

 

 

Salary, terms and conditions

 

Contract Duration – Until 24 April 2026.

 

Remuneration – The Digital Media Assistant Producer and Storyteller is a band band 7 position in SPC’s 2025 salary scale, with a commencing taxable salary range of FJD 2,287-2,859 per month, plus local staff benefits. An offer of appointment for an initial contract will normally be made in the lower half of this range, with due consideration given to experience and qualifications. Progression within the salary scale will be based on annual performance reviews.
