Job Description
Merchant Finance Limited (MFL) is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our Executive Team as General Manager Finance & Operations. Reporting to the CEO, this role provides high-level oversight of finance, treasury, payroll, procurement, IT, data and insights management, facilities, and lending settlements.
As a key member of the Executive Team, the GMFO will shape strategy, strengthen governance, and ensure operational excellence that supports MFL’s growth and long-term sustainability.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Leading the finance function, including budgeting, treasury, payroll, procurement, and compliance with IFRS, taxation, RBF, and other statutory requirements.
• Overseeing accurate and timely financial statements, management reporting, and performance measurement.
• Supervising the Lending Settlement Team, ensuring efficient loan settlement processes and compliance with internal and regulatory requirements (e.g. PPSR, LTA).
• Leading data and insights management to strengthen reporting, governance, and data-driven decision-making.
• Managing corporate liquidity, investment strategies, and relationships with financial institutions.
• Overseeing IT systems, facilities management, and fleet operations.
• Driving continuous improvement across financial systems, operational processes, and customer experience.
• Building and developing high-performing teams, fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Providing timely, accurate, and strategic reports to the CEO and Board.
To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:
• At least 6 years’ experience in a senior accounting/finance role, including 2 years at executive or senior management level.
• A Master’s degree in Commerce (or equivalent) and full membership of a recognised accounting professional body.
• Advanced knowledge of Finance, IFRS, Fiji tax laws, Companies Act, FCCC, and RBF regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated success in leading finance teams, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.
• Proven ability to simplify complex financial information and advise at executive and board level.
• Strong integrity, resilience, and ability to deliver results in a dynamic environment.
