Full-Time Head of Information Technology

Job Description
This role will play a crucial role in driving the strategic direction and operational efficiency of the company’s IT and digital landscape. Responsible for leveraging technology to support business growth, the Head of IT will oversee the development and execution of the IT strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. This executive will manage the IT infrastructure, data analytics, digital transformation initiatives, cybersecurity, and customer-focused digital platforms, fostering an environment that drives innovation, service excellence, and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead the organization’s IT strategy, aligning technology initiatives with the company’s vision and business objectives.
- Establish and monitor IT policies, governance structures, and performance metrics (KPIs and SLAs), setting standards across Pacific markets. This includes ensuring compliance, fostering partnerships, and leading the IT team to meet the evolving technology demands of the organization.
- Oversee the digital transformation roadmap to enhance efficiency, customer experience, and market competitiveness.
- The candidate will manage the entire IT lifecycle, encompassing strategic planning, architectural design, operations management, and project execution.
- Key areas of responsibility include IT infrastructure, security, business financial and administrative systems, call center operations, HR, retail, revenue assurance, EVD, mobile money, data warehousing, business analytics, audits and other essential applications that ensure continuity and promote growth.
- Additionally, this role is integral to supporting business transformation through process automation and driving efficiencies in both CAPEX planning and OPEX management
- Oversee the optimization of IT assets, leading cost management initiatives and driving operational efficiencies across departments.
- Implement robust cybersecurity strategies to protect the organization from evolving threats, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Lead risk management and data governance frameworks to secure customer information and critical business data.
- Manage internal & external audits
- Drive the adoption of advanced technologies such as AI, IoT, and cloud computing to enhance customer engagement, service offerings, and product innovation.
- Champion data analytics and BI capabilities to inform decision-making and foster customer-centric initiatives.
- Manage relationships with key technology partners and vendors, negotiating contracts to ensure value, quality, and innovation.
- Collaborate with executive leaders, ensuring alignment of IT objectives with organizational goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Build and lead a high-performing IT team, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Mentor and develop IT leaders, fostering talent to support the organization’s digital growth strategy.
Qualifications/Experience & Skills required for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- 20+ years of experience in IT leadership roles within telecom, IT services, or a similar industry, with a proven track record of driving technology transformation.
- Extensive experience in digital transformation, network and infrastructure management, and IT operations within a tier 1 telecom or high-tech environment.
- Deep knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, compliance requirements, and risk management.
- Strong understanding of emerging technologies, industry trends, and customer experience strategies relevant to telecom.
- Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams and stakeholders.
- Proven leadership in large-scale project management and digital transformation.
- Financial acumen for managing budgets, CAPEX/OPEX optimization, and investment planning.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build and manage relationships with diverse teams, stakeholders, and partners across geographical locations.
