Full-Time Reliability Engineer

Job Description
The Reliability Engineer, reporting to the Manager Technical Services, is responsible for gathering and analysing statistical data to improve fleet performance. The role focuses on defect analysis, trend and benchmark reporting, ETOPS and reliability monitoring, and supports maintenance teams by identifying issues, determining root causes, and ensuring effective resolutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews, identifies, and analyses significant aircraft defects, recurring defects, dispatch reliability, Minimum Equipment List (MEL) usage, MEL deviation, Hold Items, and aircraft delays, highlighting trends and identifying root causes.
- Identifies and recommends necessary changes to the Maintenance System and Company procedures to improve overall dispatch reliability.
- Continuously reviews in-flight maintenance defects on log pages and non-routine maintenance task cards and updates the reliability database to ensure prompt rectification of defects.
- Maintains history of all recurring defects and component strip reports by ATA, including investigations to determine cause of failure and corrective actions.
- Ensures control and administration of statistical data on MEL, Hold Items, component reliability, and trend monitoring of engines and APU, and analyses and reports adverse trends for Fiji Airways and Fiji Link fleets.
- Develops and administers systems for controlling and quickly identifying the status of recurring defects, MEL usage, MEL deviation, and Hold Items.
- Reviews monthly engine and APU oil consumption and identifies abnormal trends experienced across Fiji Airways and Fiji Link fleets.
- Monitors and researches component reliability through strip records from manufacturers/vendors, maintaining histories, documenting reports, providing monthly reliability reports, and benchmarking data against industry practices.
- Identifies high component removal rate trends and follows up with vendors to determine cause of failures and recommend product improvements or modifications.
- Identifies and reports defects affecting ETOPS systems, provides data for monthly ETOPS Review Meetings for Fiji Airways and Fiji Link fleets, and initiates required changes to the maintenance system as recommended by the Maintenance Review Group (MRG).
- Compiles Fiji Airways and Fiji Link fleet review information for presentation to CAAF during monthly ETOPS Review Meetings.
- Compiles monthly statistical data for both fleets and distributes for review at the monthly MRG meeting.
- Utilises the full functionality of AMOS (ERP System) as required to manage the responsibilities of the Reliability Engineer role.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering tertiary qualifications.
- Engineering environment exposure.
- Experience in a technical field would be an advantage.
- Excellent communications skills.
